The IRS Extends Tax Deadline

Posted on 26. Jan, 2007 by in News, Taxes

tax_deadline.jpgThe IRS announced today that taxpayers across the nation will have until Tuesday, April 17, 2007, to file their 2006 returns and pay any taxes due.

Why the extra two days?

Well, April 15th – the normal due date – falls on a Sunday, and Monday the 16th is Emancipation Day, a legal holiday in Washington D.C.

Of course, I encourage you to start early on your returns, if only to keep Uncle Sam from benefiting form your interest-free loan to the government. But in case you do procrastinate… you now have a few more days.
